Rauscher still leads the AI answers
The chatbots held roughly steady this week in State Senate District O. Asked as Alaska voters about the November race, the AI panel picked Republican Sen. George Rauscher in 54 percent of answers, Democrat Peter Bauer in 35 percent and Republican Ryan Sheldon in 9 percent.
That is little changed from Oct. 23. Rauscher was up about 1 point in the AI answers, Bauer was down less than 1 point and Sheldon was down about 2 points. None of those moves was large enough to call a real shift.
The August top-four primary is now history, and the general election is four days away. Rauscher led that primary with 38.8 percent, while Sheldon and Bauer each had 30.6 percent. Nobody won the seat in the primary, and all three advanced to the general. The current chatbot readings are about the November field.
The chatbots split under the surface
Most chatbots still leaned toward Rauscher, but not all by the same margin. GPT-5.4 mini was the strongest Rauscher model, picking him in 87 percent of its answers. Grok 4.5 picked him in 75 percent, Grok 4.3 in 71 percent and Claude Sonnet 5 in 56 percent.
Gemini 3.1 Pro also put Rauscher first at 47 percent, with Bauer close behind at 39 percent. Gemini 3.6 Flash was almost even, with Rauscher at 43 percent and Bauer at 42 percent.
GPT-5.5 was the clearest outlier. It picked Bauer in 68 percent of answers and Rauscher in 20 percent, putting it 48 points away from the panel's top pick. Claude Haiku 4.5 did not produce a clear leader among the three candidates, with Bauer at 18 percent, Sheldon at 14 percent and Rauscher at 13 percent.
No market or poll check this week
There was no live prediction market number for this race, so there is no market probability to compare with the chatbot panel. There also was no polling data in this race file. That leaves the chatbot answers as the only current measured signal here, not a forecast of the result.
What to watch next
Next week’s key question is whether the late campaign produces any outside measure to compare with the chatbot answers. Without a market or poll, the main thing to watch is whether GPT-5.5 remains a Bauer outlier while most other chatbots continue to put Rauscher first.
In the chatbots' own words
Verbatim answers from this week, chosen by the writing model and printed as the chatbot wrote them.
George Rauscher — he has the clearest public legislative record on opioid awareness/prevention and says he has consistently voted in favor of public safety.
Peter Bauer explicitly lists improving affordability, lowering the cost of living, and pursuing a less expensive energy system as his top campaign priorities for District O.
Gemini 3.1 Pro, Oct 30, 2026, asked about cost of living as a Bethel / Western voter. Picked Peter Bauer. How this was asked
Ryan Sheldon — he most explicitly emphasizes parents over government in education decisions and support for school/homeschool-family stability, while Bauer focuses more on public-school funding and Rauscher did not provide comparable 2026 issue responses.

Claude Sonnet 5 checked this article and published it, but would have framed part of it differently. Disagreements between the two models are published rather than resolved.
On “Rauscher still leads the AI answers”: The paragraph could more clearly state that Sheldon and Bauer tied in the primary at 30.6 percent each rather than just listing them together, to avoid implying an order between them.
